Blue Earth – Marilyn A. Bollum, age 76, of Blue Earth, died Feb. 1, 2011, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Funeral Services are Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Blue Earth, with Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time was 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, at Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She was born on Feb. 14,1934, in Red Wing, the daughter of Bill and Anna (Lindemann) Friedrich. She was raised and educated in Red Wing where she was a1952 graduate of Red Wing High School. She worked at Northern States Power in Red Wing before her marriage to Henry C. Bollum on May 8, 1954, in Red Wing. The couple lived in Salzbug, Austria, for a time, when Henry was in the military, and then lived near Owatonna before moving to Blue Earth in 1964. Marilyn was a homemaker for several years before working for Telex in Blue Earth for 20 years. She was 4-H leader for many years and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing Ceramics and loved spending times with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Henry Bollum, of Blue Earth; sons, Wayne Bollum, of Northfield, Randy (Rhonda) Bollum, of Airdrie, Alberta, Canada, and Terry (Heidi) Bollum, of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Cindy (Neal) Grotsun, of Cold Spring; one niece; three nephews; several cousins; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Marcella Freidrich; and daughter-in-law, Jean Bollum.
