Viola H. Paulson

Blue Earth – Viola Helen Paulson, age 92, of Blue Earth, died Feb. 23, 2011, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.

Memorial Services were held Feb. 26, 2011, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Blue Earth. The Rev. Wes Hafner officiated. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church.

Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with the services.

Viola was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Howard, S.D., the daughter of Frank and Helena (Callies) Malwitz. She grew up on the family farm with three sisters and six brothers. After attending school she moved to Minnesota to work where she met and married Melvin Paulson in Blue Earth on July 19, 1941. They raised three children, Gary, Judy and Glenda. Viola was a loving wife and homemaker. She loved gardening, fishing, music and the many family gatherings through the years.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Lee Ann) Paulson, of Waseca, Judy (Don) Olson, of Grand Marais, and Glenda (Doug) Pooley, of Roseville; brothers, Wilbur Malwitz, of Rochester, Leonard Malwitz, of Blue Earth, and Arlo Malwitz, of California; grandchildren, Jody Paulson, Jess (Barb) Paulson and Cara (Alex) Kolmer; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Mareena, Amalia and Lily.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; three sisters; and four brothers.
