Jeanette Kay “Snook” (Howerter) Tonneson was born Oct. 29, 1938, in Fairmont, the daughter of Russell and Agnes (Martinson) Howerter. She attended the Granada School and was baptized and confirmed in the Granada United Methodist Church.
On Feb. 26, 1955, Jeanette was united in marriage to Robert Tonneson at the Granada United Methodist Church. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont where they were blessed with five children, Steve, Terry, Troy, Tammy and Shane. This year, Jeanette and Robert celebrated 56 years of marriage together.
Snook wasn’t afraid to put in a hard day of work. She worked for many years as a waitress in various area restaurants. In 1968, Snook and Robert purchased the Lair Marina and owned and operated the business until 1976. She then went to work for 3M and worked there for seventeen years, retiring in 1997.
In her spare time, Snook enjoyed traveling in the motor home that she and Robert had. She looked forward to camping and fishing trips and also trips south to Texas. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing any opportunity to spend time with her family.
