Wallace A. “Wally” Thompson

Winnebago – Wallace A. “Wally” Thompson, age 80, of Winnebago, died March 6, 2011, at his home. Memorial Services were held March 11, 2011, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, with Aaron Johnson officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, in Winnebago, assisted the family with the arrangements.

Wallace “Wally” was raised in Elmore and was a lifelong resident of Faribault County. Wally was married to Darlene “Dolly” Brakke at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, in Nashua, Iowa on Oct. 13, 1954. Wally graduated from Elmore High School, attended William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul and practiced law in Winnebago for over 30 years. Wally will be remembered for his love of family, golf and bridge – he was a life master.

He is survived by his children, Craig (Julie) Thompson, of Burnsville, Curtis Thompson, of Winnebago, Cara Thompson-Weir, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Colleen (Allen) Wendt, of Amboy. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Clarice Fager, of Worthington, and Jo Ann Baker, of Madison, Wis.; and a brother, Tilmer “Cotton” Thompson, of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilmer and Josephine (Prescott) Thompson; wife, Darlene “Dolly” (Brakke) Thompson; brother, Donny Thompson; and sisters, Geraldine (Thompson) Gesche and Alice Thompson.
