Thomas R. Yeager

Winnebago — Thomas Robert Yeager, age 74, of Winnebago, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Parker Oaks Nursing Facility where he has resided for the past six years.

Memorial Services were held May 7, 2011, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, in Winnebago. The Rev. Tom Butler officiated. Burial will be at a later date arranged by the family.

Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago handled the Memorial Services for the family.

Tom was born Jan. 6, 1937, in Faribault County, the son of Fred and Abbie (Moberg) Yeager. He grew up one of eight children, four boys and four girls. Tom was involved in the family farming operation with his Dad and brothers near Delavan for many years. Tom continued farming with his Dad, brother and neighbor near Brooten in 1958 until his Dad passed away in 1973. In 1973 Tom came to Winnebago and worked for Winnebago Manufacturing, and took care of his mother until her passing at age 86 in 1982. It was Tom’s thoughtful care of his mother that enabled her to stay at home her entire life, his siblings are grateful. Tom loved music, he was a social and outgoing man, he always had few worries, and considered everyone a friend. He had a way of making people laugh.

Tom is survived by his sisters, Virginia Midthun, of Lake Crystal, Mary (Harold) Matteson, of Brownfield, Texas, and Sally Yeager, of Winnebago. Also, brother, Roy (Jean) Yeager, of Blue Earth; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his Mother and Father; his sister, Marie Marks (2010); and his brothers, James Yeager (1948), and Fred Yeager, Jr. (2005).
