Evelyn E. Skarin-Ahrens, 81
Gassville, Ark. — Evelyn E. Skarin-Ahrens, of Gassville, Ark., formerly of Winnebago, slipped away quietly into heaven on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at the Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Ark.
She was born Evelyn E. Anderson on Nov. 28, 1928, in Delavan to Otto and Eleanora Andersen. She had six children, Sandra, Kenneth, Cheryl, Francis, Pamela and Paula. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lyle Skarin, son, Kenneth, and daughter, Cheryl. John Ahrens, her last husband, has also recently passed away.
Evelyn was one of nine children, Agnis, Jannette, Elsie, Jim, Cliff, Melvin, Kenneth and Bill.
After Evelyn’s first husband Lyle died in 1960, she stayed in Winnebago until she moved to Davenport, Iowa, in 1968, where she worked and married John Ahrens in 1982. When they retired they moved to Gassville to enjoy the warm climate and especially the excellent fishing.
Those left to honor her memory are three daughters and a son; her brother, Bill; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Her true home was the Winnebago-Delavan area and she requested that her ashes be interned there alongside her first husband, Lyle. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. A true friend to those who knew her and a great mother-in-law to the wives and husbands of her children. We will miss her but we know she is going to a far better place to be with the Lord forever. Goodbye for now Evelyn, but not for long for we will all meet again someday.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Our Savior Lutheran Church in Winnebago at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18. A luncheon will follow. Her ashes will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery as she requested following the luncheon.
