Delavan — Howard G. Claude, age 87, formerly of Delavan, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, in California.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Blue Earth. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from 5-7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home, in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Pastor Wes Hafner will officiate and burial will take place in the church cemetery, Faribault County. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #89 of Blue Earth.

Howard was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Delavan, to George and Lena (Kabe) Claude. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and upon his honorable discharge, he came back to Delavan where he farmed for 10 years. On March 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Irene Kroenke, in Easton. To this union three children were born, Lois, Craig and?Lyle. The couple later moved into Delavan, where he became a rural mail carrier for 38 years. After his wife’s death, he moved to San Leandro, Calif., where he was reunited with his high school sweetheart. He had lived in California for the past 17 years. Howard loved fishing, hunting and woodworking, as well as spending time with is family.
Howard is survived by his three children, Lois Slater, of Plymouth, Craig Claude, of Plymouth and Lyle Claude, of Chaska; three grandchildren, Cari (Mike)?West, of Ramsey, Amy Claude (fiancé Eric Turner), of Oakdale, and Emily Claude, of St. Paul; two great-grandaughters, Adrianna and Samantha West; his loving companion, Marguerite Zulaica, of San Leandro; sister, Beverly Whitehead, of Brainerd; and several nieces and nephews.
