Marjorie K. Vee, 87
Fairmont – Funeral Services for Marjorie K. Vee, age 87, of Fairmont, were held Aug. 2, 2011, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial was in the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery.
Marjorie passed away Thursday evening, July 28, 2011, at the Mayo Health System – Fairmont.
Marjorie Kathlyn (Schandel) Vee was born at Blue Earth on April 19, 1924, the daughter of Sam and Ida (Bassett) Schandel. She attended Blue Earth School and moved to Bricelyn in 1942 to live with her mother and stepfather, Albert Flo. On Feb. 6, 1946, she married Everett Vee. They farmed near Bricelyn and they had two sons, Richard and Dennis. In addition to farming, Marjorie worked at numerous other jobs at the Bricelyn Canning Factory, Chuck and Beth’s Grocery Store and Bud’s Café. She also worked at Telex in Blue Earth for eight years. They were active members of the Bricelyn Lutheran Church.
In 1974, they sold the farm and moved into Bricelyn. They moved to Fairmont in 1979 and joined the Grace Lutheran Church. She was very active in scouting, crafts, Sunday school and Dorcus Circle. She made many quilts for Missions and volunteered for the funeral committee, Hospice and the Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary.
She loved to play games and entertain the kids and grandkids. She enjoyed playing cards and bridge. She always had a deck of cards within her reach.
Marjorie is survived by two sons, Richard (Judy) Vee, of New Ulm, and Dennis (Linda) Vee, of Medina; six grandchildren, Jeff Vee, Shelly (Jason) Wolfe, Justin Vee, Megan Vee, Monica Jampsa and Katie Clark; seven great-grandchildren, Destiny, Dalton and Danica Vee, Tanner, Audra and Shayla Wolfe, and Ashley Jampsa; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, in 1995; her mother, father and stepfather; brother, Loraine “Bud”; two sisters, Fern Crawford and June Ankeny; and one great-granddaughter, Calyn Jampsa.
Memorials are preferred to the Martin County Senior Citizens Center.
