Annabelle Wentz, 85
Blue Earth – Annabelle Wentz, age 85, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at United Hospital District, Blue Earth.
Memorial Services were held Aug. 19, 2011, at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth. The Rev. Janet Crissinger-Clark officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.
Annabelle was born March 14, 1926, at New Castle, Neb., the daughter of Alfred and Sylvia (Palmer) Andersen. She was raised in the Atkinson, Neb., area where she graduated from high school. She was married to Allen R. Wentz on June 6, 1949, in O’Neill, Neb. Annabelle and her late husband, Allen, owned and operated the Vienna Bakery on Blue Earth’s main street from 1953 to 1983. The couple met when they each worked at the bakery owned by Annabelle’s oldest brother in Scotland, S.D., during World War II. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Blue Earth and had worked at the Rainbow Foods Co-op.
Annabelle is survived by her son, Larry Wentz, of Sioux City, Iowa; grandsons, Christopher Wentz (Michelle Henshaw), and Kelly Wentz; step-grandsons, Keenan and Quintin Crow; and great-granddaughter, Ava Bell Wentz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allan, Jean, Leland and Wilfred Anderson; and sister, Alpha Kirkland.
