Elna M. Lura, 100
Bricelyn – Elna Malena Lura, age 100, of Bricelyn, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.
Funeral Services were held Jan. 20, 2012, at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. The Rev. Luther Peterson officiated and burial took place in Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn assisted the family with the arrangements.
Elna was born July 3, 1911, in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County, the daughter of Reinert and Ragnhild (Kvelland) Lura. She was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of the Bricelyn Lutheran Church. She attended Country School District 105 in Seely Township. Elna lived her entire life on the family farm, and the last two months at St. Luke’s. She was 100 years, 6 months and 13 days of age. Elna worked seasonally at the canning factory, and spent many years at Musser/Stamper Processing Plant in Wells. She kept house and took care of her mother and two brothers until their passing. Elna enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and all church activities. She especially enjoyed family gatherings with her siblings and many nieces and nephews. Celebrating her 100th birthday in July and being in the 4th of July parade was a very happy day in her long life.
Elna is survived by her brother, Harold Lura, of Bricelyn; sister, Audrey (Rex) Clay, of Bricelyn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Racine, Andree and Leon (Beatrice) Lura; sisters, Hannah (Ed) Kiihn, Olive (Otis) Johnson, Agnes (Alfred) Halvorson, Rachel (Ed) Gottwald, and Freda and her first husband, Roy Lund, and her second husband, Glen Bluhm.
Elna will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
