Albert Lea The Memorial Service for Kenneth A. Stevermer was held May 1, 2012, at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Timothy T. Reker officiated. Interment was in St. Theodore Catholic Church Cemetery. Military honors accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Groups. Bonnerup Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth A. Stevermer passed away on April 25, 2012, in Albert Lea. He was 87 years old.

Kenneth was born in Easton on April 8, 1925, and was the son of Leo and Ellen (Sipple) Stevermer. Kenneth married Evelyn Saas in 1949. Together they farmed in Easton until her death in 1952. In 1954, he married Janice Mertens in Easton where they continued to farm. In 1957, they moved into town and Kenneth worked as a carpenter and at Surge selling dairy equipment. The two moved to Bricelyn in 1964 and after retirement, settled down in Albert Lea in 1995. They raised 14 wonderful children.

Kenneth enjoyed farming, making wooden toys, doing jigsaw puzzles, and crosswords. He was a 4-H leader, member of the Boy Scouts, and was an American Legionnaire for 66 years. Kenneth also served in the Army for two years during World War II. His wonderful sense of humor and smile touched the lives of many people.

Kenneth is preceded in death by both of his parents; his first wife, Evelyn; brothers, Howard and Alton; sister,?Fern Redington; and great-granddaughter, Jennifer Fransen.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Randy (Linda) Stevermer, Carolyn (Gary) Meyer, Lee (Darla) Stevermer, Patricia (Edward) Stevermer, Craig (Beth) Carlson-Stevermer, Jeff (Julie) Stevermer, Jon (Jane) Stevermer, Donald Stevermer, Kim (Brenda) Stevermer, Kenneth Stevermer, Todd Stevermer, Stuart Stevermer, Diane (Jason) Obermeyer, and Jason (Ester) Stevermer; 35 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Oelerking, Lois (Ray) Kalis, and Jane (Gene) Paul; sisters-in-law, Rosemary and Jane Stevermer; brother-in-law, Robert Redington; many nieces and nephews; and other loving relatives and friends.
