Clare Johnson, 98

Blue Earth Clare Johnson, age 98, of Blue Earth, formerly of Owatonna, died July 4, 2012, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. She had been a resident of St. Luke’s for the past five years.

She was born Clare Thomton on Nov. 6, 1913, at Montevideo, to John and Annie Thomton. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1931. She married C. Oliver Johnson in 1943. They moved to Owatonna in 1959.

Clare is survived by son, Michael (Peg), of Blue Earth; grandsons, Eric (Ann), of Woodbury, and Andrew (Suzanne), of Philadelphia, Pa.; great-granddaughters, Abby and Ella, of Woodbury, and Evelyn, of Philadelphia; and great-grandson, Owen, of Philadelphia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Oliver Johnson, in 2006; two brothers; and two sisters.

She was a church organist and accompanist for many years. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, dancing, and visiting with family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth on Friday,?July 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. A visitation will be one hour prior at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
