Willard A. Sonnek

Easton Willard A. Sonnek, age 91, of Easton, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at St. Luke’s Care Center in Blue Earth.

Mass of Christian Burial was held July 13, 2012, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Easton. The Rev. Tom Niehaus officiated. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.

Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home in Mapleton was in charge of arrangements.

Willard was born on Oct. 5, 1920, in Minnesota Lake to George and Josephine (Osdoba) Sonnek. On April 25, 1946, Willard was united in marriage to Anna Dombrowski. He was a lifelong farmer in the Easton area. Willard enjoyed reading western books, playing cards and taking rides in the country. He also loved talking with his boys and spending time with family. After retiring and moving to town, he continued to go to the family farm every day for many years. Once a farmer, always a farmer. Willard was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.

Willard is survived by four sons, Len (Sue), of Delavan, Steve (Carol), of Cologne, Dan (Julie), of Mankato, and Mark (Donna), of Easton; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Dean (Margaret), Ray (Mary Jane), Harry (Renee), and Theresa Berry; sister-in-law, Joyce Sonnek; and many nieces and nephews.

Willard was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Laura Migelis; wife, Anna; infant son, Jason; sister, Margaret (Doug) Latourelle; brothers, Louis (Veronica) Sonnek and Jim Sonnek; infant sister; and brother-in-law, Jim Berry.
