Milford R. Thompson
Stoughton, Wis. Milford R. Thompson, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2012, at the Skaalen Home in Stoughton, Wis.
He was born in Elmore on April 5, 1926, the son of Martin and Caroline (Ehrich) Thompson. Milf graduated from Elmore High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. Milf received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from Mankato State College. He played quarterback for Mankato and was awarded All Conference Honors. Milf taught for 39 years, coached several sports and retired from the Stoughton School District. Milf loved the Stoughton Vikings and the Minnesota Vikings.
He is survived by his three daughters, Nancy (Tom) Brown, Debra (Larry Riff) Thompson, and Trudi (Brennan) Johnson; three grandchildren, Alison (Derek Sklenar) Tyler, Timothy Johnson, and Sydney Johnson; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Jackie Slinde and her family; son, Duane (Lisa) Slinde, and their children, Erin and Erica; and daughter, Dawna (Jeff) Furseth, and their children, Cameron and Hannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin (Bernice), Hervie (Arlene) and Glendon Thompson; and sisters, Etta (Adrian) Hauskins, and Berdine (Lloyd) Loge.
A Memorial Service was held at Christ Lutheran Church in Stoughton with full Military Honors. Milford was laid to rest in the Thompson family plot in the Riverview Cemetery, Elmore.
