Kathryn Loraine Southers was born Feb. 9, 1920, to Roy and Leona (Washburn) Southers in Trenton, Mo. She attended No Creek school in Grundy County, Mo. She moved to Blue Earth in 1936. She was united in marriage to Howard E. Hague on Dec. 24, 1938 in Blue Earth. The couple shared 56 years of marriage here in Blue Earth until Howard’s passing in 1995.
Kathryn was a homemaker, raising eight children along with all the bookkeeping for her husband’s business Hague’s Tractor Repair. Chores started early for her, cooking three meals a day from scratch, washing clothes to hang out to dry, then ironing, baking, tending a large garden and canning just to name a few. Her children all enjoyed her homemade pancakes fresh off the griddle with warmed butter and syrup along with many other favorites. She was quite a cook. We will all miss her welcoming smile, her listening ear and her loving patient heart.
