Jon R. Lund, 66

Albuquerque, N.M. Jon R. Lund, Commander USN (retired), age 66, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012. Jon was born Feb. 16, 1946, son of Doris and Lester Lund who owned and operated the local bakery in Blue Earth for many years.

Jon graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1964, Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1968, and obtained a Masters Degree in 1989.

Jon served in the U.S. Navy as a jet pilot for 22 years and received numerous decorations, medals and citations. After retirement, Jon was a volunteer missionary for five years in Texas and Mexico.

Jon is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan; son, Aaron, granddaughter, Zoie; son, Brian (Jean), grandson, Brayden; two step-granddaughters; sisters, Pat Nichols and Dianne Berg; and 18 nieces and nephews.

His parents and a brother preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held Sept. 24, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, N.M. Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery following the service.
