Mable M. Stauffer, 92
Winnebago Mable M. Stauffer, age 92, of Winnebago, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago.
Funeral Services were held Oct. 23, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago. The Rev. Michael Roys officiated. Burial was in Basey Methodist Cemetery, Winnebago.
Mable was born June 15, 1920, in Martin County. She was married to Melvin Stauffer on Dec. 3, 1938, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mable and Melvin loved to work side by side in their wonderful gardens. They also raised chickens and livestock and even exotic birds from their home. Mable was a great cook and loved preparing and sharing family dinners. She also enjoyed going to Sunday dinner in Mankato with Melvin and any other family that could come along. Mable was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winnebago and had worked in the housekeeping department at Parker Oaks Baptist Home for many years; she also volunteered at Next-2-New. She retired in 1981 and later moved to Parker Oaks in 2007.
Mable is survived by her daughter, Jean Mayland, of Forest City, Iowa; her sons, Elwin (Linda) Stauffer, of St. Bonifacius, and Larry (Sue) Stauffer, of Winnebago; her sister, Nellie Goerndt, of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Patsy (Mike) Ackerman, of Nevada, Iowa, Deb (Greg) Poyzer, of Bloomington, Todd (Kelly) Stauffer, of Mayer, Amy (Wade) Nicholson, of St. Bonifacius, Jenny (Travis) Bach, of Winnebago, and Cory Stauffer, of Cuba, Mo.; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin, in 2000; son-in-law, Marlin Mayland; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Goerndt.
