Harvey P. Larson

East Chain Harvey P. Larson, age 70, of East Chain, passed away Monday, Dec.3, 2012, at his home.

Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Patton Funeral Home. Burial was in East Chain Lutheran Cemetery, East Chain.

Harvey was born June 2, 1942, in Fairmont, the son of Sylvan E. and Irene V. (Boettcher) Larson. He was raised in Martin County and attended East Chain Schools, graduating in 1960. He attended the University of Minnesota and later graduated with an Associates Degree in accounting from Mankato Commercial College. He soon began working at the First National Bank in Elmore. Harvey served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 at Ft. Greely near Anchorage, Alaska. Following his service he returned to the bank in Elmore. In 1968 he was married and moved to Chicago for five years before returning to Elmore where he farmed with his father and worked at the Farmers Elevator. He began working for Cargill in 1980 and continued there until his retirement in 2002. Harvey enjoyed camping & gardening, was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed surveying the area crop condition from his car and was an amateur meteorologist at heart.

Harvey is survived by his daughter: Sarah Baker of East Chain; sons: Daniel (Theresa) Larson of Mankato, Kyle (Jennifer) Larson of Tracy; brothers: Mervin Larson of Eden Prairie and Ralph Larson of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Seaira & Sidnee Baker, Grant, Ethan, Kendall & Hannah Larson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jordan Sylvan Larson.
