Marjorie M. Mapson, 91

Fairmont A Celebration of Life service for Marjorie M. Mapson, age 91, of Fairmont, formerly of Granada was held Feb. 16, 2013, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Granada. Burial was at Center Creek Cemetery near Granada. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont was in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health System Fairmont with her family by her side.

Marjorie Mary Tyson was born on Feb. 1, 1922, in Hampshire, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Anna (Warrington) Tyson. She attended country school near Hampshire until moving with her parents to a farm in Nashville Township, Martin County, in 1934. Marjorie was united in marriage to Laverne Mapson on Oct. 14, 1941. Following their marriage they lived on a farm in Center Creek Township and had three children, Jerry, Carol Ann and Randy. Laverne passed away on July 21, 1987 and Marjorie continued to live on the farm where she enjoyed gardening, flowers and riding on her lawn mower. She also worked several years at the Parker Oaks Baptist Nursing Home in Winnebago, retiring in 1994. The last couple of years she has lived at the Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont.

Marjorie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Granada. She had a very strong faith and trust in God. She loved her church and the church families and this was a very important part of her life. She loved to make cut out cookies and was so proud of her grandchildren.

Those that will cherish her memory include three children, Jerry Mapson, of Fairmont, Carol Ann (Steve) Pierce, of Fairmont, and Randy (Julie) Mapson, of Baxter; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Brad) Hughes, Brian Mapson, Chris (Amy) Pierce, Andy (Brooke) Pierce, Sara Pierce (Jorden Gerdes), Katy (Erik) Dresselhaus, Holly (Jeremy) Braaten, Christina (Trent) Hines, and Josh McClain; 14 great-grandchildren, Derek, Logan and Taylor Hughes, McKenna Pierce, Dawson Braaten,?Christopher Luttrell, Logan Mapson, Audreanna and T.J. Hines, Kaleb Brown, Jacob, Sammi,?Emma and Ella Dresselhaus; sister-in-law, Irene Tyson; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Laverne Mapson, Marjorie was also preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Robert and William Tyson; two sisters, Eleanor Maurer and Ruth Lloyd; and one grandson, Dustin Mapson.
