Eldon Butler

Winnebago Eldon Butler, age 90, of Winnebago, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at United Hospital, Blue Earth.

Graveside Services were held May 9, 2013, at Rosehill Cemetery in Winnebago. The Rev. Rodney Yates officiated.

Eldon was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Martin County, the son of Donald and Melva (Berdine) Butler. He was raised in Winnebago where he attended school. He was married to Avis M. Parsons on July 14, 1940, in Winnebago. Eldon served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and returned home in December of 1945. Eldon owned and operated Butler’s Sinclair Service Station for 30 years, retiring in 1984. In 1985, the couple retired to Pleasant Lake in Hackensack where Eldon fished most every day. The couple returned to live in Winnebago in 2004.

He is survived by his sons, Charles (Rita) Butler, of Burnsville, and Roger (Sue) Butler, of Zimmerman; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Avis, in 2009; son, Myron Butler; sister, Kathleen Fett; and three brothers, Maurice, Warren, and Preston Butler.
