Blue Earth Services for Romaine Babcock, age 91, were held June 7, 2013, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. The Rev. Durene Cornell officiated. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery.
Romaine went to his eternal home Saturday, June 1, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.
Romaine was born Nov. 4, 1921, in Wells, the son of Clifford and Mary (Baker) Babcock. They later moved to Delavan where he graduated from High School. He met and married Fern Weber on Sept. 14, 1942, at Blue Earth First United Methodist Church. They lived on several farms before returning to Delavan to their farm of 46 years with their three children. They enjoyed 58 years of wedded life together. Romaine and Fern were lifetime members of the United Methodist Church. (Blue Earth?First and also Salem). He was also an active member on several church boards. Romaine and Fern enjoyed traveling and being with their family. He enjoyed boating and water skiing and delivering Winnebago motorhomes.
Romaine was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mary Babcock; his beloved wife, Fern Babcock; and grandchild, Christopher Babcock.
Survivors include sons, Darrell (Sharon) Babcock, of Rosemount, and Wynn (Beverly) Babcock, of Oak Park Heights; daughter, Shelly (David) Brown, of Jackson; grandchildren, Brent (Nikki) Babcock, Ross Babcock, Mariah (Nick) Benesh, Hilary Babcock, and Angeline Babcock; and great-grandchildren, Avery, Rowan, and Paige Babcock.
