Maxine Dewanz-Babcock, 90

Blue Earth Maxine Dewanz-Babcock, age 90, of Blue Earth, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Maxine was born April 7, 1923, in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Melvin and Elsie (Gust) Hanson. She was raised in Blue Earth, graduating from Blue Earth High School in 1940. She was married to Ambrose Dewanz for 54 years; he died in 1997. She later married Romaine Babcock. Maxine was a homemaker and had worked for many years as the office manager for her husband’s business, Dewanz Heating and Air Conditioning. She was a longtime member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she was the organist for over 30 years. Throughout her life Maxine had many interests and talents including playing golf, bowling, bridge, knitting, quilting and growing beautiful flower gardens through the years. Whatever she did, she did well.

Maxine is survived by her daughters, Paula (John) Cuneo, of Hull, Mass., Candace (John) Arends, of Blue Earth, and Lori (Greg) Stevens, of North Mankato; seven grandchildren, Amy and Jake Cuneo, Molly Meier, Alison Bierly, Emily Obermeyer, and Brittany and Ann Stevens; and four great-grandchildren, Mason and Matthew Meier, and Hunter and Olivia Myers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ambrose Dewanz, and Romaine Babcock; and brothers, Wayne and Morris Hanson.
