David L. Christian, 70

Hendricks, S.D. David Leroy Christian, age 70, of Hendricks, S.D., formerly of Winnebago, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2013, in?Sioux Falls, S.D.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, from 1-3 p.m. at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, in Winnebago.

He was born July 26, 1943, at Winnebago, the son of Joel and Deloris (Marquardt) Christian. He graduated from Winnebago High School in 1961. He was in the United States Air Force for a short period. He then went on to receive a 2-year associate degree. He married Anne Mineer on April 5, 1963, in the Basey Church; to this union they had four children, Alan, Tim, Chad, and Heather. David was self employed for many years until he went to work for APG as an onsite project manager. On Jan. 6, 1996, he married Lavonne Barenklau, in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked for APG for 20 years until he retired in 2007.

He enjoyed golfing, playing with and watching his grandkids play softball, grilling, playing cards, and watching his granddaughters dance.

He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Christian, of Hendricks, S.D.; sons, Alan (Sharron) Christian, of Mapleton, Tim Christian, of Hendricks, and Chad Christian, of Rake; daughter, Heather (Steve) Hernandez, of Winnebago; stepsons, Troy (Sandy) Hahn, of Wentworth, and Corey (Jody) Hahn, of Chester; stepdaughter, Marney Hahn, of Henderson, Nev.; sister, Marsha (Bill) Henry, of Dunseith, N.D.; brothers, Norman (Bev) Christian, of Granada, and Brian (Darlene) Christian, of Shakopee; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Deloris.
