Raymond “Cowboy Ray” Anderson, 70

Elmore “Cowboy” Ray Anderson, age 70, of Elmore, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at United Hospital in Blue Earth.

Memorial Services were held Feb. 27, 2014, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth. The Rev. Janet Crissinger-Clark and Rev. Josh Underbakke officiated. Burial will be at a later date. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

Ray was born May 10, 1943, in Blue Earth, the son of Melvin and Lazetta (Dobson) Anderson. He grew up in Blue Earth where he was a 1961 graduate of Blue Earth High School. He was a member of the Army National Guard and worked at Gambles and with Morris Camera before his marriage to Lois E. Blegen on April 6, 1974, in Spring Grove. Ray also worked at Bartley Printing and had been involved with Children’s Christian Ministry work. He was a youth evangelist throughout the Midwest; having spread God’s word to thousands of children in Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Colorado, North Dakota, Kansas, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. He had also served as the minister at Faith Baptist Church for a time.

“Cowboy” Ray Anderson is survived by his wife, Lois E. Anderson, of Elmore; children, Jeremiah (Jennifer) Anderson, of Joplin, Mo., Leah (Jamie) Holland, of Winnebago, Sarah (Ken) Yokiel, of Wells, and Matthew (Katye) Anderson, of Franklin, Tenn.; brother, Ken (Helga) Anderson, of?Fairmont; sisters, Linda Anderson, of Fairmont, and Sue (Richard) Kast, of Fairmont; an uncle, Armon Dobson, of Blue Earth; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
