Marcella Wieland, 92

New Ulm Marcella Wieland, age 92, of New Ulm was called to eternal rest on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian Burial was held May 2, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. The Rev. Douglas Grams celebrated the Mass. Burial followed in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Marcella Ann Schmidt was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in New Ulm, the 11th of 12 children, to Joseph and Clara (Neidecker) Schmidt. On April 16, 1942, Marcella was united in marriage to Wilbert “Tony” Wieland at St. Mary’s Parish Home in New Ulm. Marcella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spent her life as a hardworking, humble, generous, and caring woman to all, continuously taking the initiative in hand and heart helping others. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Jerry Wieland, of New Ulm; daughters, Diane (Allen) Kantack, of Mankato, and Carol?Spencer (Garry Martin and family), of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Matt (Kari) Kantack, of North Mankato, Kari Spencer (friend, John Lindbloom), of Crystal, Angie (Jon) Graff, of Northfield, and Amber Spencer, of Burnsville; great-granddaughters, Allison and Courtney Graff, of Northfield, and Delaney Kantack, of North Mankato; brother, Roland (Elaine) Schmidt, of Rochester; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert “Tony” Wieland, on Jan. 28, 1955; seven brothers; and three sisters.

Our heart overflows with the kindness and love displayed to our mother from the staff at the Sleepy Eye Care Center, the Sleepy Eye Medical Center, and the New Ulm Hospice…Forever grateful.
