Erwin L. Nolte, 100
Blue Earth Erwin L. Nolte, age 100, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, the Rev. Wesley Hafner officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.
Erwin was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Tenhassen Township, Martin County, Minn., the son of Fred and Ada (Eversman) Nolte. He was raised in the Fairmont area where he attended school. He was married to Ethel L. Mathews on June 22, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. The couple resided in Blue Earth before Erwin entered the Army during WWII. Following his services he returned to Blue Earth where became a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He was a postal worker for many years before retiring. Erwin was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth where he taught Sunday School and was an usher for many years. He has also been an active volunteer for various community organizations and projects.
Erwin is survived by his brother, Roy (Ann) Nolte of Moorhead and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ethel in 1991, a sister, Pauline Willson and a brother, Earl Nolte.
