Ruth Adelaide Flowers was born on May 23, 1920 in Duncombe, Iowa to Gilbert and Edith (Carpenter) Flowers. Ruth graduated from Webster City, Iowa High School in 1939.
Thomas Carson Irving and Ruth Flowers were married on Sept. 23, 1939 in Webster City, Iowa. Ruth was busy raising seven children and helping with farm work for most of her married life. Eventually Ruth and the children moved to Blue Earth and at that point Mom became known as the nice lady with a great vegetable garden (within our neighborhood). Mom had the three younger children helping her at that time with the garden and other chores too. She also enjoyed cooking and we especially enjoyed her french fries. Her first born child didn’t get to stay but 3 days with us. His name was James and Mom always referred to him as Jimmy.
Ruth is survived by her adult children, Mary Ruth (George) Huber, Sandra Kay (Terry) Classon, Roderick Irving, John Thomas Irving, Patrick Ward (Kim) Irving, Linda Irving Hatton; grandchildren, Dennis Boettcher, Todd (Cassie) Boettcher, David Boettcher, Greg (Michelle) Boettcher, Kelly Boettcher, Brian (Amanda) Classon, Brad (Andrea) Classon, Tim Classon, Wendy (Warren) Scheenen, Missy (Mitch) Savage, Chad Irving, Aaron (Jenn) Irving, Amanda Irving, Jenny (Lenn) Roth; and several great-grandchildren.
There are many family members that will be waiting to greet Mom in heaven, parents, Gilbert and Edith Flowers; sisters, Calva (Lawrence) Dilley , Zelpha (Roy) Burgin, and Mary (Ray) Olthoff; brother, Harold (Jessie) Flowers; husband, Thomas Carson Irving; baby son, James Leonard Irving; daughter Betty Ann Boettcher; son-in-laws, Robert Hatton and Harry Fenz; and daughter-in-law, Merry Mathison Irving.
