Eugene G. Gansmoe, 87
Blue Earth Eugene “Gene” Gansmore, age 87, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, the Rev. Wesley Hafner officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.
Gene was born April 8, 1927, in St. Paul, the son of Arthur and Ida (Tibodeau) Gansmoe. He was raised and educated in Blue Earth where he graduated in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy prior to his marriage to Geraldine Ruth “Gerry” Schobert on June 9, 1950 in Blue Earth. Gene was carpenter and cabinet maker with Mondahl Wood Products and later with Ankeny and Weiderholdt Construction before starting Gansmoe Construction. He operated his business for many years until his retirement. He was a life long member of the Blue Earth American Legion Post #89 and VFW post 4580 and St. Paul Lutheran Church of Blue Earth. He was an animal lover who cared for his many pets through the years. He enjoyed gardening, following the Minnesota Twins and having coffee and good conversation with friends. His greatest joy was time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by most for his great sense of humor.
Gene is survived by his wife of 64 wonderful years, Geraldine “Gerry” Gansmoe, of Blue Earth; son, Steve (Marinda) Gansmoe, of Woodbury; daughter, Brenda (Steve) Anderson, of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Brooke (Luke) Schultz, of Fairmont, Leah (Brad) Swenson, of Brooklyn Park, Taylor Gansmoe, Tiarra Gansmoe and Tanner Gansmoe, all of Woodbury; great-grandchildren: Vincent and Gwyneth Schultz, of Fairmont and Elsa and Micah Swenson, of Brooklyn Park; and several nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Myrtle (Leslie) Beringer and Mary Ethel (Vernon) Anderson.
