Delores Farrow

Ledyard, Iowa Funeral Service for Delores M. Farrow, 81, of Ledyard, was held Thursday, May 28, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth with Rev. Wesley Hafner officiating. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery in Elmore.

Delores passed away on Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2015, at her home in rural Ledyard.

Delores Mae (Hornke) Farrow was born on March 12, 1934, in Blue Earth. She was the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Weise) Hornke. Delores was raised on the family farm in rural Blue Earth where she was a graduate of Blue Earth High School.

On September 16, 1951, Delores was united in marriage to David Farrow in Blue Earth. The couple resided on the Farrow Family farm where Delores raised five children, Dale, Ernest, Valerie, Brian, and Bruce. She and David shared 48 years together before David passed away in 1999.

Delores loved country living where she could be outdoors tending to her yard, flowers, and vegetables. She was an active partner in farming, dairy, and bookkeeping for the family business. Delores enjoyed traveling with family and friends and especially cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always loved “cookie day” at the farm during Christmas.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Valerie (Michael) Blumenschein, of Blue Earth; sons, Brian Farrow, of Bricelyn and Bruce Farrow, of Swea City, Iowa; grandchildren, Crystal (Brayden) Meverden of St. Paul Park, Brittney (Adam) Bell, of Blue Earth, and David James Farrow, of Denison, Iowa; great grandchildren, Sam and Kate Bell, of Blue Earth; brother, Russell Hornke, of Blue Earth; sister, Irene (Roland “Skip”) Meyers, of Blue Earth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Frank and Bertha Hornke, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, David Farrow; sons, Dale Farrow, and Ernest Farrow; brother, Donald Hornke; and sister-in-law, Lois Hornke.
