Vada Peterson, 101
Formerly of Blue Earth Vada Peterson, age 101, of Surprise, Ariz. and formerly of Blue Earth died Aug. 16, 2015.
Memorial services were held at Kingswood Place, Surprise. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth at a later date.
Vada was born May 12, 1914 near Webster, Wis. daughter of Thomas and Olive (Christ) Whiteford. She moved to rural Blue Earth with her family in 1930 where she met and married Monard Peterson. They were married from 1934 until Monard’s death in 1996. They farmed west of Blue Earth for many years, traveled and spent winters in Mesa, Ariz. They moved into Blue Earth in 1989. Vada moved to Surprise in 2002.
Survivors include two children, Monte (Sharon), of Diamond, Mo. and Janice (Bill) Booth, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; granddaughters Paige Peterson, of West Des Moines, Iowa and Peggy (Todd) Stubbs, of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Helen Wagner, of Winter Haven, Fla. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Howard, Wayne, and Lloyd Whiteford and her sister Elsie Young.
Vada was a member of First Methodist Church, Blue Earth for more than 70 years.
