James D. Chantos, 82
Villa Park, Ill. James D. Chantos, age 82, passed away at his home on Oct. 6, 2015 in Villa Park, Ill. Jim was born May 26, 1933 in Fairmont, to Tom and Mabel Chantos, of Imogene.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Steuerle Funeral Home, Villa Park. Military honors took place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill. Jim was a 1951 graduate of Delavan High School where he lettered in football. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Navy for four years, worked at Nordaas Homes in Minnesota Lake for a time. His journey then took him to the Chicago area where he met Helen Olzanawski. They married on May 17, 1958. Jim was an over the road driver for Mid-American Lines and lastly in a family business with two of his sons. Jim was a member of the Villa Park VFW. He was faithful to return to Delavan many times for class reunions. He finished the race, kept the faith and lived life to the fullest.
Jim is survived by wife Helen of 57 years, five children, 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Christine (Charles) Ahlstrom, of Mankato; brother, John (Carol) Acworth, of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas (Ella), of Bellevue, Iowa.
