Francis Greger, 89
Winnebago Francis “Fran” Greger, age 89, of Winnebago, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at St. Luke’s in Blue Earth. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, in Winnebago, the Rev. William Sabol officiated. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery, Winnebago.
He was born May 25, 1926, in Easton, the son of Glen and Lydia (Ehrich) Greger. He attended Delavan High School until he was drafted into WWII where he served in the Pacific Theater.
On June 3, 1950 he married Dorothy Madsen at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, in Winnebago, and together raised two daughters on their farm east of Winnebago.
Fran farmed for 50 years and enjoyed reading, fishing, dancing with Dort, and traveling to his Army reunions across the United States. He was an active member at Our Savior’s, and will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane (Dennis “Jake”) Jacobson, of Springfield, Mo., Julie (Tim) Fie, of Mounds View; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Fran was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Dorothy; two brothers and one sister.
