Mary M. Johnson, 88
Blue Earth Mary M. “Marge” Johnson, age 88, of Blue Earth, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 at the Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Blue Earth with visitation one hour prior to service, with Rev. Russ Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be at the Verona Township Cemetery in Huntley.
Marge was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Superior, Wisconsin. She was adopted as a baby by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lee Sawyer of Aitkin. She was a graduate of Independent School District (Aitkin) and attended the Duluth Business University. She worked at IHC for about two years, then was an office manager at the ISD (Aitkin) until 1951 when she returned to Duluth where she worked at the Duluth Branch of Burroughs Corporation.
She married Ward. K Johnson on Jan. 17, 1970, in Aitkin, and together lived west of Huntley on the farm until moving into Blue Earth in 1997.
The Johnsons spent one winter in Pharr, Texas and many winters in Mesa, Arizona. Ward and Marge enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel, camping and traveling by car with close friends to many states.
Marge was a member of First United Methodist Church, Martha Circle, United Methodist Women, and belonged to Woodland Chapter #122 of the Eastern Star, Chat’n Seau Club, S & L Club, Good Sam Camping Club and the Better Blossoms Garden Club. She was a lifelong church organist, and played for numerous weddings.
She is survived by her dear friends, Tom (Judy) Golly, of Winnebago; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ward; and other relatives.
Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic for medical research.
