Evelyn I. Danielson, 99
Swea City Evelyn Iola Danielson, age 99, formerly of Swea City, Iowa passed away Jan. 26, 2016 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, MN.
Funeral services were on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at the East Chain Lutheran Church, rural Blue Earth.
Evelyn was born on Jan. 5, 1917 to Henry A. and Caroline (Pfister) Kittelson in Decorah, Iowa. Evelyn graduated from Decorah High School and Normal Training in 1936. She taught in the rural schools of Winneshiek County for five years. During World War II she helped her parents on the farm while her brothers and her fiancee were in the service.
On Feb. 17, 1946 Evelyn was united in marriage with Norine A Danielson at East Chain Lutheran Church. Four children were born to this union, Paul, Carol, Linda and Ruth. Norine and Evelyn farmed in the Swea City area for many years, and later moved into Swea City when Norine became a rural mail carrier.
Evelyn was an active member of East Chain Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, WELCA and Esther Circle member. She also was a member of the Swea City VFW Auxiliary and Swea City Historical Society.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, family, friends, travel, and welcoming visitors to her home that she lived in until she was 96. Evelyn was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved and enjoyed sharing stories about her family, history, and her faith.
Left to cherish Evelyn’s memory are her three daughters, Carol (Mark) Anderson, of Blue Earth, Linda (Terry) Dreblow, of Savage, Ruth (Joe) DeBilzan, of Savage; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Danielson, of Oelwein, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children; her sister, Melba Johnson, of Cokato, and brother, Odell Kittelson, of Joliet, Illinois; brother-in-law, Norlan Lee; sisters-in-law, Harriet Danielson and Mildred Danielson and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Norine; son, Paul; and brothers, Gavin Kittelson, Floyd Kittelson, and Clifton Kittelson.
