James H. Sohn, 82
Blue Earth Funeral services for James H. Sohn, age 82, of Blue Earth, were held on Tuesday, Feb.16, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, the Rev. Wes Hafner officiated. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. James died on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at the United Hospital in Blue Earth.
James Harley Sohn was born on Dec. 13, 1933 in Marna, to Ervin and Beatrice (Enger) Sohn. He attended country school and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1951. James served from 1955-1957 in the US Army. On Dec. 18, 1959 James was united in marriage to Donna DeSart in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In January of 1959, James began working for John Deere, in the parts department, where he stayed for 50 years. James was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, served on the board at the Senior Center, was active in golf, fast pitch softball, pool league and fishing. He loved to play cards. James loved his time with his grandkids and great grandkids.
Left to cherish James’ memory are his wife, Donna Sohn, of Blue Earth; two daughters, Vicky (Phil) Driscoll, Mankato, and Carla (Jim) Wagner, of Blue Earth; one son, Rodney (Laura) Sohn, of Otsego; nine grandchildren, Amy, Philip, Taylor, Kellen, Kelsie, Courtney, Brandon, Rylee, Andrew; five great-grandchildren, Eileen, William, Philip, Amelia, Kaydence; step mother, Margaret Schmidt; three sisters, Maxine (Lorne) Wassman, of Ocheyedan, Iowa, Lynn (Bob) Shupe, of Woodville, Ohio, Patricia (Raymond) Bell, of Blue Earth; one brother, Wendell (Carol) Sohn, of Jackson; one step brother, Alfred Schmidt, of Fairmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward Sohn, Glendon Sohn, infant brother, Harold Sohn.
