Blue Earth Rita A. Willmert, age 93, of Blue Earth, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, Father Peter Klein officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Blue Earth.
Rita was born Jan. 2, 1923, at Easton, the daughter of William and Louise (Hefner) Scheid. She graduated from Wells Public School in 1940. She married McRea Willmert on May 23, 1945, in Blue Earth. She graduated from Normal Teachers Training in Wells, and taught country school for four years. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Rita’s most important things in her life were faith, family and friends. Her huge dining room table was always surrounded with guests enjoying her cooking and baking. She enjoyed golfing, dancing, and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her son, William (Jean) Willmert, of St. Michael; daughters, Becky (Tom) Johnson, of Walker, Barbara (Bob) Bromeland, of Blue Earth, Betty (Gary) Armon, of Blue Earth, Brenda (Gary) Gavin, of North Mankato; brother-in- law, Winston (Cathie) Willmert, of Bloomington; 10 grandchildren, Kristi Gilbertson, Ben Johnson, Josh Willmert, Joe Bromeland, Bill Bromeland, Emily Nowlan, Elizabeth Stallman, Kyle Gavin, Kevin Gavin, Kathryn Reeder, and 17 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, McRea; brothers, Father Alton Scheid, Emil Scheid, Bill Scheid, Marley Scheid; and sister, Carmel Wald.
