Mike J. Johnson, 75
Blue Earth Mike J. Johnson, age 75, of Blue Earth, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at the St. Luke’s Care Center in Blue Earth.
A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Inurnment was in the United Lutheran Cemetery of Frost.
Mike was born Sept. 8, 1940 to Maynard and Ellen (Ogilvie) Johnson. He graduated from Frost High School in 1958 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1963.
On May 28, 1966, Mike married Virginia Johnson and together raised their three children, Justine, Leah and Iain.
Mike attended five years of night school, which lead to Mike being a plumber and pipe fitter for many years.
He enjoyed reading, politics, biking and jogging. Mike was an avid downhill skier and enjoyed bringing his family out to the Condo in Colorado for over 40 years. He will be remembered for his patience and teaching the joy of skiing to his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Virginia; children, Justine (Neil) Hougen, of Blue Earth, Leah (Jeremy) Hawker, of Chesapeake, Virginia and Iain Johnson of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Samantha Hougen, Blaine Hougen, Brita Hougen, Evelyn Hawker and Nicholas Hawker; siblings, Richard Johnson, of Parawan, Utah and Rita Johnson, of Denver, Colorado; special aunt, Shirley Monson; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Butch) Erichsrud, Betty (Tom Miller) Trytten, Carol (Mark) Winter; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Siefert; brother-in-law, Bruce Trytten; and sister-in-law, Jo Johnson; mother and father-in-law, Stanley (Gladys) Johnson.
