James L. Oswald, 50
Frost James “Jim” L. Oswald, age 50 of Frost, passed away on June 21, 2016. He will always be remembered as a caring and loving individual. He was a great dad and husband who cared deeply for his family.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 27, 2016, at the United Lutheran Church in Frost. Rev. Arne Halbakken officiated. Interment will follow at a later date.
Jim was born on Jan. 22, 1966, in Blue Earth. Jim was the second born child to Raymond and Patricia Oswald. He grew up helping his dad and grandfathers farm near Frost. He grew up around the horses his parents raised. He loved riding his horses around the area. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1984. Following high school he attended Canby Vocation and Technical College where he met the future love of his life, Deb. Soon after graduating they married in Springfield on July 19, 1986. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Frost and continued farming. On Nov. 20, 1987 they welcomed their daughter Melissa and she was followed by their two sons, Thomas on Aug. 3, 1990 and Andrew on June 4, 1994.
Jim served for at least 30 years as a member of the Frost Volunteer Fire Department. He also worked as an EMT for Frost, and served for several years as the Ambulance Captain. He was an active member of the United Lutheran Church where he served on the council. Jim loved the Vikings, and would watch as many games as he possibly could. If he was in the fields he listened to the game on the radio.
Some of Jim’s favorite moments were taking his children and grandchildren out into the fields to help farm, and taking Deb to classic 80’s concerts. He enjoyed movies, reading, and studying history. He was a proud practitioner of the Minnesota Good-Bye.
