Dennis Olson

Fairmont Dennis Lee Olson, age 78, of Fairmont, died Monday, April 24, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, Rev. Robert Roettger officiated. Burial was in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, East Chain.

He was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Rural Frost, the son of Curtis and Selma (Thompson) Olson. He received his education from Frost High School graduating in 1956. On Aug. 2, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane LaMont. On May 24, 1985, he was united in marriage to Mavis E. Shumski. The couple lived in Clear Lake, Iowa from 1987 until 2004 when they retired to Fairmont.

He is survived by his children, Randy (Robin) Olson, of Winnebago, Kim (Lee) Jahnke, of Tofte, Jay Olson, of Inver Grove Heights, Jeffery (Special Friend Emily Stauffer) Olson, of Fairmont, Chad Olson, of Fairmont; brother, Claire (Diane) Olson, of Frost; sisters, Bonnie (Larry) Fowler, of Dundas, and Shirley (Larry) Vetsch, of Leesburg, Florida; sister-in-law, Elsie Olson; step-children, Lori (Phil) Gordner, Kevin (Linda) Pribyl, Steve (Amy) Pribyl, Patrick Pribyl, Pam Fain-Pribyl, Gary (Kathy) Swenson; 24 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis E. (Shumski) Olson; parents; brother, Roger Olson; infant brother, Dale Olson; and step-son, Kerry Pribyl.
