Fairmont Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille Eleanor Findley, age 97, of Fairmont, formerly of Granada, was Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago. Burial was at Center Creek Cemetery in rural Granada.
Lucille Eleanor Findley passed away Nov. 1, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lucille Eleanor Findley was born on Nov. 11, 1919, to Peter and Daisy (Petrowiak) Pytleski in Silver Lake Township, Martin County. She attended country school in Silver Lake Township. After her schooling, Lucille worked at City Drug in Fairmont.
On Aug. 31, 1943, Lucille was united in marriage to Kenneth Findley at the Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain. Kenneth and Lucille made their home in rural Center Creek Township where Lucille kept busy as a farm-wife. She milked cows, walked beans, made many trips to the barn, and always had food to eat for everyone. Kenneth passed away on Aug. 7, 1996. Lucille continued to live on the farm until September of 2014 when she moved to Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont.
Lucille was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago where she was very active in church activities. Lucille’s faith was very important to her. After Kenneth’s death, Lucille served as the treasurer for the Center Creek Township Board. She loved flowers, gardening, canning, baking, especially her well known apple pie and was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. She will be remembered for taking care of everyone she knew and most of all loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children, Priscilla “Chris” (Greg) Scherman of Forest Lake, Richard Findley of Granada and Mike (fianc, Lynn) Findley of Granada; son-in-law, Al Thoms of Fairmont; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion (Lyle) Anderson of Ceylon; sister-in-law, Florence Pytleski of Fairmont; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Findley; daughter, Marcia Findley Thoms; and four siblings, Roman Pytleski, Marcy Fraker, Dorothy Wenzel and Esther Wenzel.
