Dorothy Royer

St. Cloud Dorothy A. Royer, age 81, of St. Cloud, formerly of Winnebago, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at Wellstead of Rogers Senior Living.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church, St. Cloud. Interment will be at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery, Balaton. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Dorothy was born on Sept. 20, 1936 in Winnebago, to Walter and Mathilda (Beckius) Grant. She married Lewis Royer on July 2, 1955 in Ayer, Massachusetts. Dorothy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in St. Cloud and worked as a paraprofessional for the St. Cloud school district 742 for 25 years. She also volunteered for the school district and for Search Beyond Adventures of Minneapolis, assisting disabled adults in traveling and served as a foster grandparent through district 742.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Paula) Royer, of Boca Raton, Florida, Michael (Marilyn) Royer, of St. Cloud, and Michelle (Steven) Kleist, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; siblings, Tom Grant, of Plant City, Florida, Gordy Grant, of Springfield, Missouri, Linda Ende, of St. Michael, and Diana Reineking, of Blue Earth; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis on Aug. 31, 1978; sister, Arlene, and brothers Edward, Richard and Robert Grant.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the SCSU Foundation, Lewis R. Royer Award for Quality/Excellence.
