Fairmont Memorial services for Opal R. Hagedorn, age 91, of Fairmont, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial followed the service in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.Visitation with a luncheon was served at 12 noon and continued until the time of service at Grace Lutheran Church. Opal passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 13, 2018, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont assisted the family with arrangements.
Opal R. (Christian) Hagedorn was born on Jan. 11, 1927, in rural Blue Earth, the daughter of Orville and Regina (Thompson) Christian. At the age of five, she moved into Blue Earth with her parents. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1945.
In 1947, Opal was united in marriage to Darrel Hagedorn and they lived in Blue Earth until 1954 when they moved to Fairmont. Together the couple was blessed with over 70 years of marriage.
Opal worked at 3M from 1955 to 1987 when she then retired and helped Darrel with their plumbing business. She was a member of the V.F.W Post #1222 Auxiliary. In her spare time, Opal loved to read and work on jigsaw puzzles.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Darrel Hagedorn, of Fairmont; daughters, Shirley (Virgil) Jensen, of Plymouth and Sheryl (Dan) Rolling, of Truman; son, Steven (Jan) Hagedorn, of Rochester; grandchildren, Lisa Jensen, Lori Jensen, Melissa (Eric) Erstad, Elizabeth (Mike) Miller, Nathan (Sarah) Rolling, Sam Hagedorn and Joe Hagedorn; great-grandchildren, Cody, Braden, Trey, Kyler, Sawyer, Levi, Meredith, Owen, and Norah; brother, Charles (Sylvia) Christian, of Blue Earth; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Regina Christian; infant son, Wayne Allen; brothers, Joel Christian and Orlean Christian; and a sister, Mavis Ogilvie.
