Barbara A. Franke, 78
Hayfield Barbara Ann Franke, age 78, received her angel wings on March 7, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Barb was born Aug. 30, 1939, in Mankato, to Emil and Esther (Grothe) Osmundson. She grew up on the family farm in Delavan, where she graduated from high school in 1957. She married her best friend, Gene on Nov. 23, 1957, in Delavan. Gene and Barb moved several times before they made their home and life together on their family farm in Hayfield. Farming was their livelihood and how they built their family, and faith guided her life. Her passions in life were her family, her garden, and collecting antiques (especially Red Wing crocks). She always made sure that the farm ran smoothly and that everyone was well fed and loved. She was first and foremost a loving mother and grandmother, a Sunday School teacher, a 4H leader, and a church board member, among other things.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gene; her children, Jeffrey (Michelle) Franke, Jacksonville, Florida; Michael (Linda) Franke, Thomas (Betty Ann) Franke and Barbara (David) Wolf, all of Hayfield; her grandchildren, Alex Petersen, Amber (Brian) Padley, Joshua (Shannon) Franke, Melissa (Jacob) Meyer, Ian Franke, Jared Franke, Beatrice Franke, Heather (Chase) Collins and Joe Franke; and great-grandchildren; Alexys Lundquist, Kaitlyn Lundquist, Gabryel Franke, Jeremyah Franke and Isaac Meyer; and brother, Roland Osmundson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward Osmundson, Frank Osmundson, and granddaughter, Ellen Petersen.
The celebration of life service was held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hayfield, Reverend Paul Hauschild officiated. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Mayo Hospice and Comfort Health, especially, Shelly and Brittany.
Blessed be her memory.
