Arlie Hazel (Bishop) Farnham was born on March 18, 1918, in Fairmont Township, Martin County, the daughter of John and Estella (Clark) Bishop. She began her education attending school in East Chain and finished her education graduating from Fairmont High School.

In 1936, Arlie was united in marriage to Carol “Ted” Farnham. Together the couple made their home in Granada and were blessed with 10 children.

Arlie worked for Tony Downs Foods in Madelia for a short time 27 years, then did home health care for the elderly and sick which she loved to do and continued that work until her retirement at the age of 91 years.

Arlie was a member of the United Methodist Church where she held a strong faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning. She loved her large family and cherished any opportunity to have them together and spend time with them. Arlie was known for her homemade bread and she was always willing to share her baked goods with family and friends. She continued her bread baking, making her last batch of bread at 98 years old. Another important part of her day was reading her daily devotion from the “Upper Room.” The day before she passed away, the daily reading was titled, “Creating Memories,” and did she! Arlie was a kind and giving person and always gave more than she had, but she always had enough. She loved GOD and cared for his children in need.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dixie Hines, of Fairmont, Nancy Schultz, of Granada, Delbert (Brigette) Farnham, of Radcliff, Kentucky, Bea (Bob) Bonin, of Fairmont, Danny (Kathy) Farnham, of St. Louis, Missouri, Archie (Marsha) Farnham, of Fairmont, Rosalie Wolff, of Woodland Park, Colorado, Ramona (Chuck) Grant, of Apple Valley, and Bill (Jan) Farnham, of Blue Earth; son-in-law, Jim Chukuske, of Tracy; 32 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
