Evelyn D. Strauser, 89
Blue Earth Memorial Services for Evelyn D. Strauser, age 89, of Blue Earth, and formerly of Fairmont, were at 10:30 a.m., on April 7, 2018 at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont. Evelyn passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.
Evelyn Dorothy Klocek was born June 6, 1928 to William and Martha (Dulas) Klocek in Freeborn County. Growing up she attended school and graduated from Freeborn High School.
On Sept. 1, 1948 Evelyn was united in marriage to Donald M. Strauser at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago. The couple made their home together on a farm near Granada, where they raised their five children, Dale, Patricia, Bruce, Jeffrey and Michele.
Evelyn worked various jobs throughout the years including, 3M, owning the Huntley Caf, Kmart, but most importantly she raised a loving family. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning, baking and cooking. She enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her flower garden and taking fishing trips in the summer. Evelyn was active in the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She also was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago before joining Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont in 1989 when she and Don moved to Fairmont. Evelyn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dale (Linda) Strauser, of Granada, Patricia Johnson, of Amboy, Bruce Strauser, of Lacey, Washington, Jeffrey (Kitty) Strauser, of Marion, Iowa, and Michele Ehlert (significant other, Jon Neitzel), of Fairmont; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Angie Sauer, Matt (Violet) Klocek, Janice Puckett, and Kenny (Jackie) Klocek; sister-in-law, Joyce Roe and her husband, Maurice of Coralville, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2014; great-great-granddaughter, Amelia; and siblings: Adrian, Beatrice, Leona, Alex, Hubert, Rosie and Louis.
