Debra M. Salic, 61
Winnebago Mass of Christian Burial for Debra “Deb” Marie Salic, age 61, of Winnebago, was on Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago. Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Winnebago. Deb passed away Monday morning, June 11, 2018 at her home in rural Winnebago. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to UHD Hospice or Hope Lodge in Minneapolis. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont assisted the family with arrangements.
Debra Marie Salic was born on Jan. 5, 1957 to Gerald E. and Rose Marie (Craig) McDonald in Frankfurt, Germany. She attended Fairmont Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1975.
Deb was united in marriage to Bing Salic on Sept. 17, 1983 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago. After their marriage they made their home in Granada for a short time before moving to an acreage outside of Winnebago. Deb managed Hardee’s in Fairmont, and then worked as the accounting coordinator at Hy-Vee in Fairmont where she retired from due to the loss of her sight in 2009 after twenty-five years. During the last few years before retiring, Deb also worked at Sterling Drug in Fairmont.
Deb was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago. She was also a member of the Minnesota Patriot Guard. Deb enjoyed traveling, fishing, listening to books on tape, golfing, riding motorcycle with the geriatrics motorcycle club, playing cards and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bing Salic; children and grandchildren, Charlie Salic and his son, Shane Schumacher, Betsy (Neil) Hiatt, and their children, Blake and Emily Hiatt and Andy Salic; two brothers, Steve (Lori) McDonald and Brad McDonald; two sisters, Cindy (Kelly) Hand and Sue (Jeff) Greischar; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and RoseMarie McDonald and both sets of grandparents.
