Beth Haynes Chaffee was born Sept. 7, 1927 on the family farm in Easton, to Willard and Elsie (Ricke) Chaffee. She was a 1945 graduate of Delavan High School. She married Harley Langworthy on Feb. 19, 1947 and they spent many years together until his death on May 2, 2009. Traveling and spending over 40 winters in Texas, farming and watching sporting events filled Beth’s time. She loved watching football and baseball especially Sunday afternoon games with her sister Phyllis. Beth was very competitive. Lately she enjoyed beating her son at dominoes, and in 1992 she held the title for Texas State Shuffleboard championship, to name a few. Beth was a homemaker and farm laborer, doing all-things-farming except planting and combining. She would go to town for her father-in-law, husband and in later years for her son, to collect the whatchamacallits and thingamajigs needed for the task at hand.

Beth is survived by her son, Jerry Langworthy, of Delavan; daughter, Shirley Stefanski, of Plymouth; brothers, Willard (Bert) Chaffee, of Bellevue, Nebraska and Norman (Sue) Chaffee, of Gilbert; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Chaffee, of Winnebago and Helen Whitney, of Winnebago.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley; sister, Phyllis Jensen; brother, Roger Chaffee; brothers-in-law, Wayne Whitney and William Jensen; and son-in-law, Mike Stefanski.

The family would like to thank all the health care professionals at the Mapleton Community Home, Mayo Clinic Hospice, and ISJ Hospital of Mankato.
