Justus I. Amundson, 101

Blue Earth Justus Irving Amundson, age 101, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018. A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth with Rev. Arne Halbakken officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at South Blue Earth Cemetery. Patton Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. www.PattonFH.com

Justus was born Dec. 28, 1916 to Gerhard and Ida (Nelson) Amundson on the family farm in Rome Township. He was baptized and confirmed at the South Blue Earth Church. He attended country school and assumed family farm work chores at an early age. Justus loved farming with everything from a team of horses to computerized tractors and combines through his 80’s, when he retired to complete more of the farm administrative tasks.

A lifelong bachelor, Justus was preceded in death by his brother, Lowell Amundson and sisters, Beryl Bjorgan and Geraldine Aslakson. He will be missed by his family and friends. Justus will be remembered as a kind and gentle man.

The family would like to thank the staff at Friendship Court for their excellent care. The nursing staff of UHD and Drs. Johnson and Karp for having provided compassionate and the highest quality of care, which Justus greatly appreciated.
