Marie was born Dec. 1, 1928 in Foster Township, the daughter of Rudolph and Berdella (Seedorf) Wegner. She attended country school and went on to graduate from Kiester High School in 1946. After high school she worked for several area families doing childcare and housekeeping. She married Keith Sahr on Sept. 1, 1947 at the Rice Lake Church. They farmed and raised their family of four children on the Sahr farm where Mark and Julie now live. They were married 65 years! Marie’s faith and family were very important to her. She had her children in church every Sunday and church activities throughout the week, praying for and encouraging her family in their faith in God. Her home was always clean and decorated and baked goods in the freezer for all who would visit. The grandchildren all knew their favorite cookies, mocha cakes, apple bars, apple pies and donuts would be at grandma’s house. Many jars of canned goods were seen in her cupboards as she had a large garden for many years. She sewed many garments for her children and grandchildren and sewed many quilts that will all be cherished. Marie enjoyed working as a resident assistant serving the elderly at Friendship Home and The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells. She has quite a legacy of 27 great-grandchildren, five of them born just this spring and summer. She helped pray for their entry to life.
