New Ulm Richard Allen, age 69, of New Ulm died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-North Chapel in New Ulm. Committal will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery Columbarium.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-North Chapel in New Ulm.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Allen, of New Ulm; his sisters, Sylvia Strable, of Indianola, Iowa, Ruth (Curt) Sommerland, of Jackson, Jean (Darlye) Preston, of Armstrong, Iowa, Ginger Polley, of Zephyrhills, Florida, Becky (Harold) Masters, of Winnebago, Mary Delacruz, of West St. Paul; brother, Robert (Irene) Allen, of Mankato; father-in-law, Stanley Bastian, of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, LaVonne (Alfred) Hindermann, of Hutchinson, Cindy (John) Olson, of St. James; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Kathleen) Bastian, of St. Paul, Tom (Beth) Bastian, of East Troy, Wisconsin, Peter Bastian, of New Ulm, Mark Bastian, of New Ulm, Jim (Kathy) Bastian, of New Ulm, Dino Bastian, of Lino Lakes; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Richard William Allen was born Jan. 30, 1949 in Delavan, to Albert and Mildred (Bentson) Allen. He was a 1967 graduate from the Winnebago High School. On Aug. 23, 1980, Richard was united in marriage to Mary Bastian at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.
